And it Happened!
One of the first acts of the new Coalition Government was to get rid of the completely pointless Home Information Pack. HIPs were supposed to make home buying easier, but instead drove up the cost of buying a property.
Buyers had every reason not to trust them!
Most people who are about to spend hundreds of thousands of pounds on the biggest investment of their life would want their own surveyor to check out the property- someone who will get up the ladders and crawl into cellars to give them a detailed report. Instead, HIP was an "empty" document that provided a bit of information about home's energy efficiency and Local searches that your lawyer would request anyway.
But the worst consequence is the thousands of workers who had faith in it, who gave up their jobs to train as HIPs home inspectors and now are left with uncertain future.
